Why extrapolate that fame made them this way when it's entirely possible getting famous just allowed them to express it?

In all four cases, I'd ask why the earlier work can show so much heart if the later work is going to be so heartless (or at least cynical?)
I'll conceed I could have been just flat-out fooled, but it is also worth thinknig of the lines from the Daodejing:

With desire, one can only percieve outcomes
I see earlier works that have a sense of wonder, the product of real curiosity and empathetic thought on the human condition. .. then diatribes for likes.
