It has three proposals. Is this a side-hustle for editors/journo's or what?

Maybe, but that's implying editing standards that... exceed what's currently in play.
More ways than inside access to get something published.

Pressure to get stuff in "reliable" media is gonna be increasingly intense. An article somewhere mainstream and reputable can then be used to great affect selling snake oil.

This is already what happens. The new thing is how easy it's getting to do that. Media is committing suicide-by-business-model.
