US politics is a hoot to me as a Norwegian because every time I see Bernie Sanders, I see a hawkish moderate a bit too keen on war, and every time I see any other prominent politician I see someone who's escaped from the local asylum and everyone is interviewing for some reason.

Israel massacres another wave of demonstrators: Bernie Sanders: *both sides boilerplate* US senator interviewed on live television: "It was the Hamas. They did the bad thing. Also, we need to bomb Iran. It's their fault. Did I say Russia was behind this? Russia was behind this."

School massacre occurs, victims protesting: US congressperson: "These kids ought to show a bit more gratitude to this GREAT NATION where other people have the freedom to shoot them. Also, let's get some cops who definitely don't murder people all the time to guard our schools."

US politics is so batshit insane, the "moderate" position is only a short slide away from advocating ethnic cleansing (as it has done before, many times).

With apologies to people with mental health issues - such as Louise Mensch, who only has a career because the americans *can't tell the difference* between their political punditry and schizophrenia. As if there is one, in practical terms.

You're right. It was grossly unfair to schizophrenics. I got a bit carried away. They or any other sufferers of mental health problems share no fault in the various paranoias of the US body politic, no comparison. Unfair the US or Mensch, though? No. I don't think it was.

There has always been a small anti-war, anti-fascist minority in the US, but it doesn't change how many voters, journalists, businesses and politicians have consistently voted & acted in favor of murder. It seriously pisses me off, so I was reckless with my words. Tsk.

Insincere apologies to mentally ill people as a device to shoe horn their affliction in to some political point scoring is never a good look. Doing it again when called on it makes it worse. Punch up not down.
