There are a lot of people out there reading official Chinese statements or US (Trump Tweets) & get really reactive about it. Listen, a lot of Chinese official statements are not for you - they are for the domestic audience. Don't forget that the gov has to manage 1.4bn people.

As I always say, WATCH WHAT PEOPLE DO NOT WHAT THEY SAY. Okay, ask yourself, since the multitude of statements, what have happened? A lot of threats etc. Why? Because it has to sound STRONG to the domestic audience. Right? Have to think from the other person's perspective.

Who says they can not increase tariffs they already implemented?
-
No one says that. They can do whatever they want. The key reason why China hasn't retaliated on US business investment & has been mostly symbolic so far is because it doesn't want to impact already weak investment onshore & push firms away.

I think that you make the same point Mr. Trump made..that is to say..the imbalance has become so great that US has little to lose. Although you make the point with much more finesse

@realDonaldTrump and tariffs, a deluded dangerous game of chess. Potus will push the whole world into recession if he doesn’t stop this arm twisting and bullying and the endless boastful tweets like red rags to a bull -
Well I’m not a Trump fan, but the global economy was slowing no matter what &is headed for a recession regardless of the tariffs. Trump is justified in fighting China on their cheating & abusive practices. No one else had the guts up until now.

Does the UK have legal ground to enter in the Hong Kong - China dispute? Wasn’t this deal made between UK and China? If China breaks the deal “one country two system” (they did), does UK have legal rights to intervene?
-
No. It was a “lease contract” (under duress) between China and England hundred years ago. They just gave Hongkong back to China according to the contract. How could u think one still has the possession or ownership of something that he had rented after it have been given back??
