Breaking news: the Washington NFL team plans to announce it will retire its name tomorrow. Disappointing to see how media outlets are all too comfortable using an offensive racist slur in their headlines as opposed to referencing the "Washington NFL team."
Insensitive headlines aside, I will be overjoyed hearing confirmation of this remarkable change tomorrow. As a Ho-Chunk woman who has worked on state-wide efforts at mascot retirement in public schools in Wisconsin, this change is long overdue. #NotYourMascot #ChangeTheName
