Tarrant Commissioners vote 4-0 with one abstention to remove the confederate monument that's in front of the Tarrant County Courthouse. "We should not have any monuments on Tarrant County public property that is believed by many to be a symbol of racism," Judge Whiley said.
Will the removed monuments be moved over to the museum on 820? I hope so. If we are going to remove them, at least preserve our history for study.

I agree about the preservation of history. But this particular monument and many like it were erected in the 50s to celebrate Confederate pride and build coalitions against civil rights. It perpetuates the Lost Cause of the Confederacy narrative that we still haven’t shaken today

A civil war monument should encourage unity not divisions, seek forgiveness for the sins of slavery and further persecution, celebrate Juneteenth, honor the men who were murdered as traitors to the Confederacy(many without trial).
