If others adopt this method, then it also would add to debate whether cube developments are necessary. Row developments are cheaper, and they supply the cased wells needed to “see” and “control” frac hits. So why commit to a more capital intensive and long cycle dev strategy?

Using cased wells to guide the control of frac growth offers the clearest path to real-time fracturing ops as we have seen. Since it lines up to fiber data, the method is extremely reliable. You do need a cased well though, which is only a small constraint in many cases.

The paper presentation was one of the best I’ve seen in several years of attending . Really amazing to see how much has been learned about fracs and fluid distribution.

Also looking forward to see a paper from & today on active well defense. Endeavor shared new details on its pre-loading program in the Permian and is now doing active well defense too, plans to issue paper on that work this year.

Day 2 of appears to be frac hit day. 7 of 10 papers on my list cover some aspect of the issue. One of the first papers on the agenda from will explain how cased but un-perffed wells can be used as a cheap/effective frac hit diagnostic tool.

Most interesting advice given: no “heroic” efforts to salvage a stage during refrac. In other words if things go bad downhole, abort. Phishing may not work and will further ruin economics.

Will have more on this later but one of the key takeaways I have from Day 1 of is that the refrac market could be much smaller than some think. Odds of losing a well are pretty good. After filling with water, you may need to add cement and a plug.

Chinese oil demand has dropped by about 3 million barrels a day. That's about 20% of total consumption.

It was assumed for much of the last decade that annual decline rates of tight-oil wells would stabilize around 10%-5% once they turned 5-years-old. This is not the case in any of the three major basins, as shown by terminal decline data from .

Yes there was a kink in 's tight oil profile, but they produce a lot from the Bakken and there's a seasonality impact every winter. See Bakken graphic below. RE: Permian cubes - They'll be lumpy and it's also becoming increasingly common to shut-in wells to avoid flaring.

I finally got round to taking a proper look at the 's Annual Energy Outlook, and it is... very interesting. Oil demand is projected to be resilient under a range of scenarios. In the Reference Case, it is slightly higher in 2050 than in 2019
