Thanks @TeamYouTube hey @toml I would love to see a metric that actually would tell us what we need to do to succeed. https://twitter.com/CJKnowsTECH/status/1154770441770283010 …

CTR is important but it’s also RELATIVE!!! It easier to get a high CTR when impressions are low... but what about impressions? Distribution is something nobody talks about and that is based on how your videos is classified and matched to viewers. AKA metadata...

That's the rub. You can't control impressions, the Algo should do that. It should raise with higher CTR but it isn't. I have a video with a 6 min AVD on a 8 min video with a good CTR and it's the same. YT rut that happens every so often

It’s not about control it’s about positioning. Classification and matching audiences interest matters as well as initial view velocity performance. There is no “control” or ppl would abuse it if it was that simple.
@MattGielen@derraleves do u concur?2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
Replying to @robertoblake @TeamYouTube and
I'm referring to videos with the exact same subject matter (at times same tags and titles are similar). If YT is mis-classifying it for some reason, I can't do anything about that.

Also we know that AVD of the video itself isn't the main thing. If it was, 2 min videos would never out do 6 min videos, but they do. Something is missing in analytics to surface this (possibly session watch time).
