One of the claims in Bolton’s book is that Trump tried to persuade China to buy agricultural goods to help his re-election efforts in farm states. Fundamentally, what’s the difference between this and slapping tariffs on goods to help your reelection on the rust belt?
So, Bolton’s accusation is that Trump lobbied for popular policies and tried to sell American goods because he thought voters would like that? Fundamentally, isn’t doing what voters want a big part of why we have elections?
