Trump isn't wearing masks because of the symbolism. He's publicly rejecting expertise and signaling willingness to face the virus bravely instead of cowering behind a mask like a liberal weakling. Same reason he looked at the eclipse, I'd wager.
Recognizing the limitations of expertise isn't rejecting expertise. Glancing at an eclipse for 2 seconds is not blinding. I would wager millions of people from all backgrounds have done so. You do not understand Trump or his supporters.
