In the year 2020 I don't understand why people like to keep lots of books in their homes. Is it a moral foundations thing (a la Haigt) or a kind of superstition, or a minor manifestation of the hoarding instinct?

I understand wanting to read a physical book, but I don't understand wanting to keep in in your house, possibly for the rest of your life (unless it's one of your favourites)
1) Almost all my books are nonfiction. I keep them in case I want to find a reference in the future. 2) Books are beautiful and I like the aesthetic.
