Actually, no, it doesn’t. It does so only in a world in which one can invest the $306k, have no source of income and yet still afford to while one’s days away surfing. If I pretend that I have zero expenses, then I can have a pretty spectacular pretend life.

Non-investment related expenses are irrelevant to calculating the return on investment. Objectively, the average return on investment from a mutual fund is better than that from a college degree.
