You're talking about gene therapy, not eugenics. Gene therapy treats individuals by manipulating their genes. Eugenics does not manipulate genes. It removes people with faulty genes from the reproductive pool.

I think I've been talking with a man who didn't know what these words mean. And I hope that I'm talking to a man who has the humility to admit he didn't understand eugenics at the start of this conversation. And I hope that impacts how he views claims made in this thread.

This is a thread about Dawkin's claim that eugenics is a scientifically sound principle. No one in this thread has argued that it should be implemented. Therefor no, I don't believe anyone here is calling for sterilization. I assumed folks in it knew what eugenics is though.

The claim was that having diabetes or asthma does not make you a better scientist. I never made that claim. I pointed out that having diabetes or asthma doesn't make you a worse scientist either. That's not just an argument. It's a fact.
