They say on average you make $1 million more over the course of your career with a college degree. If you put the AVERAGE cost of tuition at an INSTATE, PUBLIC college into a mutual fund for 50 years you would make about $1 million. Objectively, college is a bad investment.

Average salary with a high school degree is not <$30k, it's $35k. Average salary with a college degree is not $100k, it's <$60k. Post degree income also correlates with starting wealth. The bottom 20% see no increase in earnings with a degree. ...You're perfect for Twitter.

I’m still talking about the average. If you’re from a poor family (in the bottom 20%) the degree has no correlation with higher earnings. If you’re from the top 20% of America’s wealthy, it has a tremendous impact.

Maybe that’s because poor people aren’t picking the right majors. I don’t know. They have been told the lie that “employers just want to see you can learn so it doesn’t matter what your degree is in.”
