I’m still talking about the average. If you’re from a poor family (in the bottom 20%) the degree has no correlation with higher earnings. If you’re from the top 20% of America’s wealthy, it has a tremendous impact.
Maybe that’s because poor people aren’t picking the right majors. I don’t know. They have been told the lie that “employers just want to see you can learn so it doesn’t matter what your degree is in.”
Keep in mind, I’m talking about INSTATE, PUBLIC institutions. That already skews the figures in your favor. Out state schools without reciprocity or private institutions are out of the question looking at return on investment.
