If the two are indistinguishable to the algorithm, there are only 2 conclusions: A. the algorithm is junk B. they really are the same thing, but we are making excuses for one of them

If R's promote & glorify white nationalists, they SHOULD be removed from Twitter. If the platform is denied them due to their hateful views - as rightly happens to Islamic fundamentalists and THEIR supporters - then maybe they will AT LEAST return to not acting on their bigotry.
-
Or a new racist platform will emerge and they will be hidden to come up with extreme views together without repercussions. This subject has been debated before, I just don't know the right answer but I feel a little bit safer when they have to be racist publicly.
-
They don't have to be racist publicly, they choose to do so, largely due to the fact Trump has been getting away with it.
-
Agreed and that is my point. I want them to keep it public and not have a reason to hide it. Mass banning would probably cause that.
-
Except that is the exact opposite of what people said about ISIS. They got banned, rightly so, to prevent them from recruiting on Twitter, or using its DM system for planning attacks. The same should apply to white supremacists.
-
But, does Twitter shut down an account completely for posting white supremacist stuff or Nazi stuff or do they only suspend the accounts? a suspension allows a user to continue using the platform's features like DM'ing others just not to post publicly
-
To my knowledge, that do neither. ISIS folk got completely locked out of the service, yet Twitter won't use the same tools to stop white supremacists, because it would ban many Republican politicians at the same time. That's not acceptable.

When reality and The Onion start to blur together.

That’s the absolute truth.

And yet they’re happy to suppress Resistance accounts. This is not paranoia. Just ask around... Also this is absolute BS. There are quite literally teams of people who report Nazis.pic.twitter.com/ZaXEwer3Sp
-
you are soooooooo right
-
I used to be part of those teams. I’ve taken a break as reporting Nazis takes a toll on one’s health. There are some incredibly disturbing accounts, and it shouldn’t be difficult to create an algorithm that detects the words “juice” and “ovens” BEFORE something’s posted,
@Jack. -
so true
-
I hated even typing that out. It’s out there though, and they get away with it via the word substitution. It’s sickening.
-
Same with white supremacists and their “clever” ways around typing out the N-word. Figure it out,
@jack. -
Yep. It’s not rocket science.
