    An earthquake struck Hokkaido shortly after 3:00 AM on Sept 6. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported no tsunami threat. Large portions of Hokkaido remain without power and local authorities urge drivers to exercise caution at intersections, as traffic signals may be affected
