That looks amazing (and I don't even like Whiskey)
I started out with Black Label Johnny Walker and almost gave up on Whisky, but it turned out each Whisky tastes a lot different than the other that you might just end up finding some bottles you like. In this line up here I do have favourite and less favourite friends :P

I always thought it was kinda like different kinds of beer (though obviously on a whole nother level). Like ... I thought every whisky would have a "base" taste anyway and if you don't like that taste, you won't like any whisky no matter the flavor it adds to the base

They do vary a lot. Like yes it will taste alcohol-y no matter what, so if you hate the smell of alcohol then you will hate it, but just in the scotch (scottish) single malt family, the flavours combo are already crazy. Just choose a few on this chart
