To be very honest I've seen a lot more hate from people against this then by people for it. (just type in #straightprideparade for example.)
Also you may view it as a tasteless joke, I wouldn't say that makes the hate justified.

Sorry I don't accept, 'I'm more oppressed then you so my pride is worth more than yours' as a valid argument. I'm not saying LGBTQ don't have it tougher than straights, I don't see why that means straights aren't allowed to celebrate and be proud.

Then we agree to disagree and I hope one day you will meet gay people who can tell you face to face the answer to your question. 280 words limit on twitter from me, a fellow straight, would probably be a bad place to explain to you anyway :)
