Most “Viet” food in Austria is cooked by Chinese cooks who never tasted Viet food soooo

I also know some Viet cooks but they also have to adapt the food to “generic Austrian-Asian” profile or they wouldn’t be able to sell very well

any place in Vienna that is at least somewhat authentic? I don't eat Asian food a lot when I'm eating out precisely because of that Austrian-Asian thing …

http://Xinchao.at is one place I know that is owned and staffed by Vietnamese people (I know the owner/cook). Although they do adapt their food to Austrian taste, it’s not that drastic and they also put actual Viet dishes on the menu instead of “fried noodle”

Ask the Viet staffs in there for recommendations and they will point you to the more authentic dishes on the menu.

Anothet (unexpected) place is the Chinese place next to the Erste Bank inside Ưestbahnhof (cocos I think). They are owned by Viets and the menu is full of generic “Chinese” food but lately they started selling Phở noodle and it’s really good.
