I got another question in regards to the Blizzard layoffs ... Are these people out of their jobs from one day to the next? Or were they told on Tuesday that they're gonna be out of their jobs by date X? I'm mostly wondering if there are any laws protecting employees in the US

In Germany someone like Marc Olbertz with 14 years in the company would have needed to be informed 5 months in advance ... I guess that's something I took for granted and never really thought about until yesterday / today

We really do take a lot of things for granted in Europe. Healthcare is another good example. Unthinkable in Europe the state that is in in the US.

The right to take sick leave without losing your vacation days and also the 25 days vacation bank is something we take for granted as well. I read reddit and see people having 3 days off a year, vacation or sick leave and I was like what the fucking fuck?
