I do have sympathy for YouTube content creators, but when I read YouTube management people put out statements like "for the sake of the internet’s future, we urge you to vote for the deletion of this proposal", I can't help but find that funny.

YouTube is a content hosting platform like any other. If they host copyrighted material and benefit from it (which they do), they should be held accountable. Invoking THE FUTURE OF THE INTERNET because they're being regulated should tip off even the last of you.

I realize that this sucks for YouTubers, but you shouldn't be angry at the EU for protecting copyright laws, you should be angry at YouTube for never establishing a clear solution to its copyright violation issues, in fact even profiting from them.

You've essentially built your brand on a shady private platform. Don't be angry at political authorities for implementing laws to protect their citizens' rights. Be angry at YouTube whose billions in revenue every year should surely allow them to find a solution.

Not only that but yt's "copy right protection" hurt legitimate people more than actual violators and is a mess in general
