The reason is that you're using content that someone else created & owns. You do have the right to argue Fair Use, but only courts (not YouTube) can decide whether use of someone else’s content is protected under Fair Use. Here’s a great explainer video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTLQ4h4yKSk …

Loved that video explaining fair use. I currently have multiple videos demonetized for using tiny clips to help me illustrate my points. How can I appeal this without risking them doubling down and striking my channel if you guys wash your hands of the situation completely?

(This is not an official reply) You’ll need to edit out the parts of the video in YouTube’s dashboard. If your video has 100,000 views or more, you can only edit out the segments if you are a part of the YouTube Partner Program.

Isnt it a pain in the ass to get into that program though?

Yeah but its either you edit it out with the YPP or you get demonetised. Your choice

Yah but what I'm saying is that you still screwed if you aren't in that program. Don't see why it changes for videos over 100k views in the first place.

Probably to make sure that highly viewed videos are more likely to be owned by a popular channel (bot prevention)

Do bots even give ad revenue though?

They help it get suggested, so in a way, it does indirectly help your channel and ad revenue

That seems like a different problem though.

Yeah, but if YouTube were to allow content creators to get money on videos that use copyright protected material, by suggesting content through a prohibited form of analytic boosting, it doesn’t really sound that great now does it?
