It’s not about compassion or empathy- seriously, stop infantilising sections of society; this is about basic economics: when people are able to meet their needs/have basic needs met, the economy thrives: they spend more = increased tax revenues.

Priti Patel forgets that her job is to empower people within their communities. That is what she is paid to do. A bit rich to take her payment but insist people must help themselves. Does she regard her ministry as a kind of sinecure, status without responsibility? Such arrogance
