Definitely the cliff thing. I’ve been a teacher for a couple of decades, and while we need to let kids struggle some, never without providing the actual instruction first and never hungry and to the point of frustrated tears. That isn’t pedagogy, that is torment.

@some point her hunger was clouding her judgment anyway. My parents taught us everything from hunting, fishing, fixing cars, sewing & cooking we are self-sufficient in most situations. They planted the seeds first then let us figure it out our way to grow wings.#RootsAndWings

The "teaching moment" would have literally been that. A minute to show her how the can opener worked. 6 hours of frustration on her part is not teaching her a skill. Or giving her "roots & wings". It taught her don't ask Dad for anything.

Definitely the cliff. AND it really feels like the whole 6 HOUR ORDEAL was more about stroking his own ego than teaching her a real lesson in a loving/supportive way.

He literally said he didn't show her how to use it. This isn't teaching your kid to fish so they can eat. This is handing them a fishing rod and saying "learn how to fish yourself".
