Look around you. Is someone you know in pain? In 2016, an estimated 20.4% of U.S. adults (50.0 million) had chronic pain and 8.0% of U.S. adults (19.6 million) had high-impact chronic pain, with higher prevalence associated with advancing age.

I correct a misunderstanding of my work that was in the scholarly press. Opioid Rx limits ARE “effective” at making Rx’s fall. But we must be *accountable* for positive AND negative effects on health & safety. I thank @addictionjournal for space to reply

Unreal, they'll do this but not support ending prohibition? Let's pick a solution and stick to it, shall we?

Drug laws are stupid and dangerous. Failed over 50+ years of trying.. Time to decriminalize drugs and treat them as a public health problem. Save a lot of lives of civilians and law enforcement

People living with pain and their families should have access to a basic level of pain care, unencumbered by referrals, copays, insurance, and income level.

The Cato Institute takes its name from Cato's Letters (that's right-it's "Cato," not "CATO"). Learn about them here. via

In Maryland our team got confirmation that our legislation will be sponsored or at minimum that an existing bill will be amended to address the issues we presented! It is exciting to add Maryland to a growing list of states that should have dr/patient protections in 2020!

That’s what makes it difficult, I am coming from a place we’re Ive seen it in practice, experience it in person, seen family and friends affected. I think what frustrates me is after 2yrs of discussions w/Dr Flores is the flat out “that’s not happening”. Thank you🙏

It is completely backwards: patients can’t access their own information, but law enforcement can conduct warrantless searches. Seems the reverse of the typical legal/ civil liberties norms, no?

The AMA lacks the power to make direct changes to the CDC Pain Guidelines, but AMA policy still opposes the Guideline's misuse by pharmacies and health insurers; AMA also has policy that allows for higher MME than cited by the CDC Guidelines, when medically appropriate. (1/2)
