Can't wait for everyone from around the world who watches Wild Mountain Thyme to fly into Dublin Airport and be greeted by a stunning landscape of hotels

this is basically *exactly* what Ed Sheeran said about writing Galway Girl and it paid off so, fair play I suppose.

I mean, if the accents were good I wouldn't watch it so the entire thing is genius imo

What he's saying is he's making it for Americans who think Ireland is a postcard.

Comparing it to Angela's Ashes and Playboy of the Western World is a bold move. Maybe the holding up a mirror to society side of it couldn't be squeezed in to the trailer with the donkeys etc.
-
My thought exactly - it wasn’t just the accents that looked shite about this movie ...

So so much wrong here. Synge and McCourt are actually Irish firstly. And wrote (unless you're Gerry Hannan) truths that people didn't want to acknowledge. These are mistruths that people want to believe. It's the actual opposite.
-
Yes you can’t compare this piece of tripe to the genius social commentary and critique of two greats !

Shanley quite obviously is living in another world & is more than likely insulated by money & ego. Its not only the Irish that are panning this. Quite the flex to compare himself to who he did. I dont see his work being taught to future generations unless its a 'how not to' class
