I like Zotero, I think it's worth the switch...

Is there a good Android app to read papers using Zotero? The ones I looked at seemed a bit amateurish.

Mendeley is owned by Elsevier, and is a part of their empire (they are no longer open-source, encode the library, etc). Zotero is open source, and has similar (arguably, better) functionality. And for note-taking, I really recomment

Was a long time
@papersapp user. I like the new ReadCube Papers app. It has potential and plays nicely with Word. Still some things missing but it has a lot of pluses. -
I too was a longtime Papers user but I recently switched to
@zotero and I am blown away by how fast and smoothly it works. Plays nice with Word and Google Docs. I do miss the dedicated hotkey that Papers had but that's a small sacrifice.

Strong endorse on Zotero, easily synchs across devices (linked by username), fast, free. I found their chrome plug in way easier to use than Mendeley
-
Also Zotero Word plugin doesn’t hijack the Option+m to type a mu like Mendeley does

Was a long time Word+Endnote(+Dropbox) user but have totally switched to Google docs+paperpile and my life has drastically improved

Not having to collect and integrate comments from a bunch of people has made the process of writing significantly better. They just need to make "suggesting" the default rather than "editing".
