    The United States must lead and drastically reduce emissions. Now. The economics of fossil fuels to power our grid don’t add up. The American people cannot afford to keep investing in the past, not to mention the devastation and costs of constant record setting climate disasters.

    Both are possible but require our leaders to deliver bold policies that meet the urgency of the moment. If we continue to emit CO2 at our current rate, our carbon budget to limit global warming to 1.5C will expire in just under eight years. 8 years.

    The climate crisis is not coming – it’s here. In the coming days lawmakers in DC have a real opportunity to address this crisis head on and set our country on a path for economic growth and a secure livable future. It is a false choice to present these as one or the other.
