Weird. Had discussion this eve with man who absolutely agreed that BBC news is badly failing us but said they are under so much pressure we should support & protect them No. They should support & protect *us* - with proper journalism. That’s their job, their reason for existence

I don't want to see the end of the BBC. I want it to be what it's supposed to be, impartial. The BBC does a great job, in general, with everything other than its news & current affairs output, which is totally biased toward the Tory govt. It should be independent & impartial.

Totally agree... the beeb is in every household and sends out a powerful message....it should be clear and totally unbiased and not controlled by any political party. It has to clean up its act.

My sister @whitbyemma always tells story of being in school & teacher Tony Grieco (RIP) telling her about whoever controls the media controls the narrative. Hence in a war, they seize media/Means of disseminating info/propaganda

Tbh, you're obsessed with the BBC. Unclear what it's about. Whatever ills there are in the world, you seem more concerned about the BBC's reporting of them than the evils themselves. Why's that? Seriously - wwhat is going on with you?

Suggest reading some Chomsky, it will help you understand how big media functions, and how it’s role in forming national opinion works at a core level to undermine political democracy. “Manufacturing Consent” is particularly good/relevant .https://www.amazon.co.uk/Manufacturing-Consent-Political-Economy-Media/dp/0099533111 …

This goes further than #BBCBias. The integrity of the corporation is in question. Our 'public service broadcaster' no longer serves the public. I do not have a TV - as I have repeatedly explained to TV licensing. Restore trust in BBC journalism. Then I'll change my mind.

Always been pro establishment, remember the Miners strike! Put BBC TV behind a paywall, make freeview truely free, and then we will see how few people regard our state broadcaster as a 'great British institution'.

I feel like this about the bosses, journalists and presenters, but my heart is sore for the ordinary folk who work at the BBC. They don’t have a say in its bias, apart from walking, but who can afford that. The sound person, and the cafeteria worker get my sympathy.

and who is exerting this pressure? can only be the government. this is state interference and it's up to those at BBC to resist and call it out, not capitulate as appears to be the case at the moment. the BBC is failing in this, and as such it is failing democracy & the country.

Sadly I hear BBC Scotland workers are prodomitly snp. But taking orders from London! Scared of losing their jobs! Which they would! Scandal! Like Jimmy savaile. Folk knew, but didn't report ,scared of losing job! How do we combat this?

2nd part undoubtedly correct. unsure of party leanings within BBC but assumed they are pro union. if they are not, and are SNP as you allege, then their fear of government interference that is compromising them and producing the clear #SNPbad bias, should be a worry to us all.
