At North Herts council cabinet where we have just agreed an updated climate change strategy. This includes a list of proposed actions but many more will be added over the coming months to meet the council's objective of zero carbon by 2030.

We’ve joined with to bring a legal challenge against the Met Police & Home Office use of facial recognition surveillance. Baroness Jones, a peer, was classed a “domestic extremist” by police, who collected intelligence on her just for being an environmentalist.

“It’s an approach from the 1960s. We should be allowing people to walk and cycle to get to local facilities instead of having to get out the car every time. But car-dominated developments are still going up.”

As employment at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus grows and the road network and car parks become stretched it will be crucial to provide fast and reliable sustainable travel links. These proposals are good for Royston and the other towns nearby.

It's not rocket science: “In one year, bike use in Paris is up 54 percent... the culmination of years of growing restrictions on cars, the introduction of bike-sharing services, and most recently the construction of bike lanes.”

Last week this amazing woman contacted us to ask if she could borrow our litter picking equipment. Stephanie spent 5 hours picking litter along the Old North Road on her own, collecting 6 sacks of rubbish and sorting it into recyclable and non recyclable waste...

The Dutch cycle 15 billion km every year, which saves their healthcare system €19 billion. They've achieved this by doubling the size of their bike network since 1996, and they now spend €595 million annually on cycling, or €35 per resident. In England we spend £7 per person.

I read many books last year. Each taught me something. In “In praise of walking” Shane O’Mara said: “our public policy making needs to fully embrace why walking makes us so distinctively human, and should feed in to our urban planning”

The zeitgeist has shifted on cars and city centres. "York to ban private car journeys from city centre within three years" Properly managed this will lead to a centre which is more prosperous, safer and healthier with cleaner air and happier residents.
