People don’t commit suicide because of an event, a person or a thing. You wouldn’t blame a person for someone else’s cancer, nor call someone weak for developing it. Only when we start talking about depression as a disease will stigma be erased.
Of course you are powerless over diseases, cancer, leukemia, ect are actual diseases that require cures, and can kill you. Depression is not a disease, it's a state of mind that can be overcome. If you convince yourself you are powerless, you will be.

Depression can be a serious disorder and you making light of it is certainly not helpful. People do not ask for depression and it isn't as easy as wishing it away. Comparing it to Cancers (like Leukemia) and other diseases etc. isn't helpful. It's a different beast entirely.
