    Last term, with Justice Kennedy as the key vote, the Supreme Court did not rule on the merits of partisan gerrymandering challenges. Now there is Justice Kavanaugh, who hasn't ruled on these issues.

    SCOTUS will again weigh in on whether congressional districts can be struck down as too partisan. The justices announce they would hear arguments in March for challenges to maps in North Carolina and Maryland.

    The lawyers could have their sights on the rule, and a senior DOJ official said the agency is prepared to defend the rule. has said legislation is the only way to ban bump stocks. Her bill to do so has 41 cosponsors, all Democrats.

    The rule amends the regulatory text of machine gun in two federal gun control laws to include devices that allow semi-automatic weapons such as an AR-15 to harness the recoil to fire more than once with each trigger pull.

    Just now: DOJ announces final rule to bans possession of a bump stocks. Officials estimate there are thousands of devices that the public will need to destroy or turn into ATF within 90 days after it is published.
