The threat is alive but leaving American boots on the ground in Syria at this stage won't change that one way or the other. It's a fantasy to imagine the U.S. military can successfully manage the Syrian post-civil war domestic situation.

Has less to do with that and more to do with the fact that if U.S troops leave the North, Turkey will invade Syria and plunge Syria into a new stage of the war which will last years. Not to mention the destruction and ethnic cleansing that comes with a Turkish invasion

I don't see that ISIS has morphed into anything else. The real danger is still from Assad, far more deadly than ISIS, and the possibility that the
#YPG will hand E Syria over to him so it doesn't fall into the hands of Free Syrians backed by Turkey. We should support FSA. - Show replies
