    Do other PhD students have those random days crippling anxiety with thoughts of, “why am I doing this?” Or, “will this be emotionally and financially worth the time?” No? Or, is that just me? 😂

    *hiring a TT professor* universities: fit is so important to us, we really want somebody who wants to be here also universities: sure you've worked here as an adjunct for 10 years, but we just don't think you'll be a good fit

    Amusing how the only folks who oppose (some form of) universal health care are those who do not have any pre-existing conditions or have watched family struggle to pay hospital bills. I hope you never have to choose between feeding your family or getting life saving prescriptions

    Do you think about potential future problems too much? Someone recently said to me "let that be a problem if or when we get there". This stuck with me, it helps me stay grounded in the now & reduces the effect a potential future has on the present moment. I'm more productive now.

    As an advisor, some of my best conversations are with students I’m helping leave my institution and find their path. From a business model this is not great, but thankfully, I didn’t get into education for that reason.

    The youngest millennials are 24 this year. The oldest millennials are 39 this year. We’re not kids. “Ask a millennial if they know what this is” isn’t funny and just shows your ignorance. Millennial isn’t just a general term for anyone younger than you.
