It remains possible to destabilize current climate equilibriums outside of our capacity to deal with, given current knowledge. It's very easy to imagine this leading to mass migrations or political unrest, both of which recent events have proven we can scarcely handle.

Yes. But nature is doing that constantly. Only *we* are here redressing the balance. There is no “problem-free” state. But some imagine if only we “stopped the damage” or some such...there would be.

But surely we *can* damage the planet’s future ability to serve our purposes and can also predict which activities are likely to do so.
-
Yes. Crime, for example. Arson is one thing right now that’s causing some of that. But in general* people are the solution and “what is natural” is the problem.

But there are parameters within which human life can continue as is, if we push the planet outside of those parameters by accident, we might not be able to get that back.

Some some “problems are not soluble”?

Ok, I'm only going off your quote here, but is the charitable reading of "damage" not that we "damage our chances of continuing to use the planet's resources in the same way that has benefitted us up to this point"?
-
What many regard as “damage” is a side effect of solving some problem that was way worse than the side effect. So, absent fossil fuels we’d still be trying to solve mass-electricity. Solutions *must* create new (better!) problems. Resources are infinite: http://www.bretthall.org/cosmological-economics.html …

Ridiculous statement...IF you agree on what’s best for the planet. Clearly you and I do not.
