I think I'll pass, thank you, given that this film appears to be promoting the myth that medical mistakes are the third leading cause of death in the US and uses the most inflated figure I've seen, 440,000 per year.https://twitter.com/ToErrIsHumanDoc/status/972509973036044288 …
Our goal is to bring an under-discussed issue to the forefront. Marketing the film using a statistic that is referenced in many places is an entry point for many to learn more about the issue. The debate over what number is accurate is important, but not our focus.

And so you wash your hands of the debate over what the true number really is.
-
We address (briefly) in the film that the numbers are debated, but ultimately where we all land is that the numbers are higher than they should be. From there we move onto what can be done or is being done to get better.

It reminds me of the politician making a speech when a guy in the crowd shouts out "You're lying" And the politician replies "Yes i am but hear me out"

"Referenced in many places". Hmmm. Many places talk about Holocaust denial, would you be comfortable using that claim to market a product?
-
If people argued there were NO mistakes in medicine or NO deaths due to preventable harm, I would not even give that claim the time of day. It’s obviously wrong and offensive. Using the highest number available to highlight the prevalence of this issue only serves to help.

It is a problem to bring to the forefront , but if you over-sensationalize you lose credibility

I admit to using research I believe to be true after discussing it with hundreds of leaders in health care and 30+ interviews for the film. If I believed that number was false I wouldn’t have used it. It is one of the many reasons I pursued this topic in the first place.
