23 (!!!) APPs lol, just goes to show you that nobody puts up with bullshit like captive resident labor. PS if you are a surgical NP or PA willing to work at UNM I bet you can negotiate very good terms right now

My back of the envelope: 57k per resident (from UNM website PGY3) vs 113k from average NP salary on ziprecruiter = 456k for residents vs 2599k for APPs. This doesn't count hiring the faculty either. Conservatively, residents make 0.17c for every dollar an APP makes per unit work.

Wow. Almost 3:1 APP:resident PLUS almost 1:1 faculty:res?! I’m assuming this is because they refuse to take 24 hour+ call, work more than 40 hours/week, etc. Why do we abuse residents so?
