I like to focus on what matters: company research, and reading investing books/letters/memos. All of the following is a complete waste of time, and should be avoided: 1. Reading market news 2. Reading macroeconomic forecasts 3. Checking your stocks any more than once per week
Well, abstaining is an emotional check for myself that helps keep me level. Others might be better suited, but I purposefully avoid situations that might elicit an emotional state prior to research.
