Milton friedman theorized a basic income that was non-livable. There are further complexities with a livable basic income. Neither is foolproof, but perhaps one may be more preferable depending on who you ask. https://blog.p2pfoundation.net/livable-vs-non-livable-basic-income/2016/01/30 …

In other words, "justice and equality," along with "ending the welfare trap," are not necessarily synonymous with Friedman's basic income. The article I posted does a pretty good job at sussing out the differences, though it is biased in favor of a livable basic income.
