Have you read the Jamie Mai interview in Hedge Fund Market Wizards?
I haven't read the book, but it looks worthwhile. If you recommend the book, consider it bought. Why Jamie's chapter specifically?

The most interesting part to me is his journey from being a history major, to a masters of accounting, to private equity, to finally equity research. Greenblatt's chapter is good as well.

That sounds like a great story. You've convinced me to order the book. Around six months ago I decided, for better or worse, I wanted to work in investing and financial markets until my last day; that I wasn't meant for anything else. I'm sure these stories will help. Thank you.
