One more thing that is weighing on me: this is Orwellian doublespeak. (“Sweeps = humane”). We deserve honesty about whose interest this policy serves.

The pandemic is raging and there’s an enormous need for more housing aid in communities across the state. Thank you to the legislators and advocates who have been working on this proposal.

As the state’s budget situation has stabilized and since Congress is unlikely to pass another relief package this year, I urge the Governor to declare a catastrophic disaster so the legislature can convene a remote special session in December.

A little pre-meeting chatter on Anchorage's budget advisory commission meeting: It look 209 days for Alaska to record the first 10,000 covid cases, and 29 days to record the next 10,000.

This funding comes at a critical time as COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Oregon. As winter approaches, it’s particularly important we passed additional funding to help people without permanent housing.

What a feeling. To see my family reflected in that of the Vice President-elect of the United States.

Today, we can celebrate the progress that is now possible. We must listen to the voters who courageously voted in record numbers despite this year’s extraordinary obstacles.

I’m thrilled that Oregonians are voting in record numbers. If you haven’t cast your ballot yet, there’s still time! You can find your local drop box here and turn in your ballot by 8 pm. If you are in line to drop off by 8 pm, you can still vote!

Lawmakers can’t know everything. To solve complex problems we have to trust the people who’ve done the work. And, when you say you care, support the solution in front of you. Cuz caring doesn’t equal progress.

Can we talk about why police press releases aren’t a credible source of info? Take this quote: “Many in the crowd wore gear suggesting they intended to engage in physical confrontations with police, including helmets, gas masks, shields, and body armor. (1/5)

I encourage my fellow Portlanders to stay away from the hate rally on Saturday. Raise your voices elsewhere, speak of love and justice, and don't give them your energy.
