Thank you for the excellent reporting. Senseless death. Sounds like murder. Private security needs oversight. HB 2527 passed this year is an important start.

I’m heartbroken by this news. Gary was champion for his district and a lovely man. My prayers are with his family and community.

Thank you to everyone who has been working during this brutal heat wave. To name a few: emergency and medical personnel, service industry workers, infrastructure maintenance workers, transportation and construction workers.

This session has been unlike any other in Oregon history. We faced overwhelming challenges in response to historic crises. More work lies ahead. But we can honestly look back and say that the work we did here will make a meaningful difference for years to come.

Essential workers have risked their lives during the pandemic. We must continue putting working families first as we recover from this crisis. My top priority for Oregon’s remaining share of federal relief dollars will be more support for frontline workers in 2022.

The Oregon House of Representatives has taken the unprecedented step of expelling one of its members. Given the extraordinary circumstances, this was the only reasonable path forward. My full statement on tonight's vote.

Today’s revelation that Rep. Nearman's actions last December were premeditated is incredibly disturbing. I once again call for his resignation. If he does not immediately resign, I believe he should face expulsion from the Legislature.

He acted as part of a coordinated effort to allow enemies of democracy into the building; literally opening the door to sedition. These men were armed. Nearman put the lives of every person in that building at risk; capitol staff, legislators & State Police officers.

Rep. Nearman put every person in the Capitol in serious danger and created fear among Capitol staff and legislators. I called on him to resign in January and renew my call in light of today’s charges.
