I think we need to all just need pause & reflect. A football field worth of oncologists are here to hear a REAL DEBATE on a question we wouldn’t have asked 10 years ago. CURING metastatic disease with RT + IO?? What an exciting time to be an oncologist!

“Long-term follow-up in the NLST suggests that overdiagnosis does not occur other than for carcinoma in situ. Under the current standard of care, these patients return to annual surveillance with no further interventions unless the lesion grows aggressively”.

Primary care. Because lots of folks outside the specialty think they can do it. A good physician, skilled at their specialty, brings immense value to their patients, and their community.

Hopping on the home on this snowy Chicago afternoon & glad to see this reminder staring my co-riders in the face. Lung cancer screening may not have pink NFL uniforms to raise awareness but this is a start! 👏

50% of cancer patients receive radiotherapy. Radiotherapy cures cancer, even if it has already spread. Radiotherapy and associated technologies are evolving at a dizzying pace. How about a companion roadmap for radiotherapy research ?

Start of my practice coincided w/ rise of IO. Seeing 1st set of pts at ~5yr. Lady w/ numerous RCC brain mets, TKI + SRS 2013 by predecessor. 2015 starts IO, +SBRT to a lung met I had little hope. Pneumonitis. No Tx since late 2015. She's NED. RT + IO is awesome.

Reading residency applications. ERAS and NRMP are centralized processes. The idea that 179 med schools expect us to read a 4 page manifesto on how they grade (or not) students is asinine. "92% of our students are excellent. 8% are superb. Joe is excellent." Great, thanks.

This piece by Zeke moved in so many ways. Having recently started clinical practice in N.America, I’m shocked at how big the problem of overtreatment is, especially at the end of life. People refer to end of life care as “giving up”. This should change.

I often see patients with stage III do rather well on one year of durvalumab in my practice. Still, it is really encouraging to see real evidence and analysis of patient reported outcomes showing NO deterioration on QOL from PACIFIC
