The most disturbing resemblance between Fascism 1.0 and Fascism 2.0 is authentic popularity. Some Americans want to punish Russia. Others want to punish Silicon Valley. Both impulses are reasonable. But both dodge the fundamental issue. @washingtonposthttps://wapo.st/2KIRYYf?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.afa8bdd4ed3b …

Reminds me of a friend (author, well read, PhD) who years ago declared “I get all my news from the internet now, so I can choose according to my interests”. Later was sending me #Russia Today articles that I de-bunked, but that didn’t stop him. He went from Tea Party to now AfD.

Fascism is back. Blame economics and short historical memories.

Might be a bit of a glossing however we have an electorate infected by the Kardashians so not at all off the mark.

Great read, I agree. Now I cant help but notice that I was fed this by the elation algorithm. Someone gets it, he's telling everyone, the world can still save itself. It only can if you not only retweet it, but then disconnect and go do something real about something, anything.

“In fascism, feeling is first.” Exactly. The internet is really like a black hole made of a mirror. Sucking all that is yourself into one dense and inescapable core. And I recall how one Trump supporter said how DJT made him “feel like an American again.”
