Please EMPOWER them. Dont ABUSE them by saying “you can’t mention their name for security reasons but without them this research couldn’t hv happen” even if you are the principal researcher. I have NOT heard an Afghan researcher who didn’t want to be a co-author in a paper.

When you co-author a paper with an Afghan writer & you participate in a panel, please mention their name & DON’T take all d credit for yourself. After 18 years, there are many excellent Afghan writers - work wt them & appreciate them. In this power dynamics Don’t ABUSE them. 3/3

You might think that inter journalists & western academics & analysts after providing 2decades miscalculated advice & misinterpreted analyses, finally have learn to be less arrogant & be open to acknowledge the basic rights of their local colleagues, but seems still not the case.
