Also, most of the stuff that Rs want to do apart from those are unpopular. Well, the tax cuts are too.

Well the idea is to abolish the filibuster to admit DC an Puerto Rico to blunt the 1) and allow more of 2) that seems fair and reasonable.

Until the GOP discovers any policies beyond judges and tax cuts, they can achieve all of their goals with 50 votes already. Democratic policies shouldn't be held to a higher threshold.

It’s about what you do with that power in these two years, I guess. And counting on that to be enough to blunt the R advantage and the legislation to be popular enough (a la Obamacare) in the long run that it will be hard to overturn once Dems inevitably lose control.

I would like bills to be passed, even bad ones, because then voters can actually see what the parties stand for. It would force the GOP to actually have a platform again because they would then be expected to pass legislation. Ideally, voters then can respond accordingly.

It’s a shame that both parties are more interested in destroying each other than helping us. Maybe we could get things done if they focused on doing their jobs without taking vengeance on each other for previous actions/elections.

One reason Ds underperform though is because they can never implement the policies they promised their constituents that would actually have an impact on their lives because of the constant stalemate. Break the dam and transform their lives through policy, benefit electorally.

Personally, I just don't agree with point number 1. All of us are old enough to remember when the Democrats controlled 60 seats in the Senate, however briefly. I refuse to believe they can't do it again.
-
That would involve more centrist policies and the far left isnt interested in that
