    In the negotiations the Commission will work to ensure priorities are reflected. We must rebalance our relationship with nature. After all climate change and biodiversity loss are the biggest threat to farmers’ livelihoods. The must be able to help them face it.

    The needs to play its part in tackling climate change and biodiversity loss; the current CAP has been unable to deliver this kind of change. Ecoschemes and their funding are an important first step, but more steps must follow in agriculture and along the food chain.

    We also need to better protect our natural from chemical . As a priority, we will ban PFAS. This is a so-called forever chemical: highly persistent, causing enormous health and environmental damage. Its use will only be allowed when absolutely essential.

    We use a huge variety of products every day. Whether it’s clothes we wear, food we eat, or toys our children play with: they should be safe. One of the first actions we will take is to ensure that the most harmful chemicals no longer find their way into consumer products.
