Let me be clear: The flooding in EKY is a climate disaster. This is what climate change looks like in the mountains. A deep drought followed by feet of rain in a matter of hours that has no where to go but up and out. It will keep coming at shorter intervals from now til forever.

#Climatechange will only make these hazards worse: "Should the good news hold, and the trees escape alive, their survival isn’t mere luck: The National Park Service has spent decades thinking about the fire management of this particular grove."

just posted a story on the "Caring for Creation Together" interfaith #ClimateCrisis meetup in Charleston WV on June 4, 2022. The writer quoted me and others in this on-point profile, which dives into tying faith to climate talk.

The social and economic system that we live under is rapidly creating conditions that are incompatible with the preservation of life on this planet. This is a staggering truth and a pressing reality that shapes all our lives and determines our struggles. #ClimateCrisis

No, planting a trillion new trees can NOT save the world. If we want a livable planet, and I would strongly suggest that we do want a livable planet, it will take ending the fossil fuel industry and toxic capitalism

And the return on that investment has been enormous. Big Oil got its money worth a thousand times over.

There’s a lot the Biden administration could be doing on climate change:
1. A robust social cost of carbon rule with broad reach.
2. Require carbon capture from all major emitters.
3. Stricter limits on co-pollutants from coal- and gas-fired power plants
