As a voter who has always voted , not because there were always great candidates but because they beat the alternatives; based on recent history I expect to work against the best candidates, repeat 2016 mistakes, be deaf to voters, press its own political agendas.

A headline predicts Trump will leave office in exchange for no criminal charges against him, his family or organization in 2019. Hope not. Should law enforcement deal with wealthy gangsters who prey on the public as a way of life? Rule of law applies to everyone. Lock them up?

The key descriptors for politicians: Expedience - their sole motivation. Principle - foreign to their nature, virtually nonexistent. In regard to Trump, let us hope for expedience for their own self-interest since principle for the good of the nation has not been in evidence.

Considering the known cases against Trump, it is surprising he has time to think about anything re: governing the country or foreign relations, things he has absolutely no skill, talent or experience for doing. The world is a worse mess because his entire personal life is a mess.

If a democracy is to survive it is imperative that citizens know their history and how current leadership is governing. It requires vigilance to survive. “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free ... it expects what never was and never will be” - Thomas Jefferson

Reading reports of Russian meddling in elections, I think it is not hard to believe that computer warfare may replace traditional warfare through disinformation, social media manipulation, and through financial and infrastructure operations attacks in the future.

There are blue collar crimes, so-called white collar crimes, but it is the 24 karat gold collar political crimes that are almost never indicted or convicted - rarer than snowballs in hades. Learning from Watergate? Nada! Betrayal of public trust!

If there is honor among thieves there is none among politicians. As Trump/Administration corruption becomes more evident (as if it that’s new!) there will be GOP politicians expressing shock, professions of their innocence (all fake); the rats are breaking out their life jackets!

A president cannot be indicted? Our claims it is okay that a crooked president is protected from paying any price for breaking the law while our prisons fill up with those 99.99.99% of Americans who are not the president! The rule of law in America?

It is not in Trump’s nature to ever separate his business prospects from election campaigning or government; it is how he views everything; his inclination to do whatever he wants never takes into account if he is violating laws.

Does Homo Sapiens learn from experience and mistakes? As individuals it is a possibility. As a species, probably not. Why? Because those who influence society, culture and government are motivated by power, greed and fame, learning little from past mistakes.

An encryption backdoor is a bad idea. No government in history has ever demonstrated that it could be trusted not to abuse such powers! There are always bad actors as Trump’s administration makes abundantly clear to anyone paying attention.

Trump proposes a government-run TV news network to counter CNN. No democracy should have government-controlled news outlets that are nothing more than self-serving political propaganda ...in this case nothing but Trump-controlled fake news.

Donald Trump is a miserable excuse for a human being. He has less moral standing than any elected leader in U.S. history except Sen. Mitch McConnell. I’m sorry to say this about anyone. I’m sorry for the American condition that allows such persons to be in positions of power.
